The White Palace in Al-Areen is a cultural landmark and a prominent tourist and development site that embodies the goals of Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 and reflects the urban and cultural renaissance the Kingdom is witnessing in various fields. Its unique strategic location atop a high peak with a breathtaking panoramic view has made it one of the most attractive landmarks for visitors and hikers in the Asir region.
This landmark stands as a testament to the comprehensive development and progress our nation has achieved under wise leadership. It also embodies the citizen's role in contributing to the advancement of their homeland and showcasing its cultural and touristic assets. The project was constructed according to a modern engineering vision and a distinctive architectural design, predominantly white, which symbolizes purity, clarity, and peace. Hence its name, "The White Palace," a name that has become common among officials, residents, and visitors alike, making it a prominent landmark in the Al-Areen area.
The project cost approximately nine million riyals, a clear indication of the care and attention it received to be a qualitative addition to the tourism and cultural landscape in the region, and an important tributary of local development.
After God, the credit for establishing this cultural landmark goes to businessman Saeed bin Shaye Al Khuraim Al Qahtani, who sought to make this project a distinguished addition to the region and a landmark that reflects its tourism and development status, out of his belief in the importance of contributing to serving the nation and society, and enhancing efforts aimed at supporting local development and highlighting the natural and aesthetic features that abound in the Asir region.
This landmark also received generous attention and support from the Emirate of Asir Region. The White Palace in Al-Arin was inaugurated with the approval of His Royal Highness the Emir of Asir Region – may God protect him – as per letter number (100) dated 1/12/1443 AH, which included the gracious directive to assign the head of the Al-Arin Center to inaugurate the project. The occasion was attended by a number of officials, sheikhs, deputies, dignitaries, and prominent figures of the region, who shared in the joy of the people of Al-Arin over this landmark achievement.
The establishment of the White Palace aligns with the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which has made a "vibrant society" one of its fundamental pillars and has given significant attention to the tourism sector as a key driver of economic and social development. Accordingly, the project was conceived as a tourist and cultural destination that will welcome visitors, tourists, and guests to the region, showcasing the unique natural, aesthetic, and heritage assets of Al-Areen and the Asir region.
The White Palace has also become a hub for numerous national, social, and cultural events, hosting celebrations for Founding Day, Saudi National Day, and other national occasions that reinforce the values of belonging and pride in the nation's history and achievements. It also receives official delegations and visitors from outside Saudi Arabia, as well as guests and visitors from across the Kingdom, thus solidifying its position as a cultural and tourist landmark that reflects the authenticity of the place and the hospitality of its people, and showcases the bright image of development the region is witnessing.
Today, the White Palace stands proudly above the peaks of the lion, not only as an architectural building, but also as a symbol of ambition and development, and a title for the civilizational movement that the Kingdom is witnessing during the era of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, Prince Mohammed bin Salman – may God protect them – and a living embodiment of the development and prosperity that the Asir region is witnessing under the support and attention of the wise leadership.
The White Palace remains a testament to the fact that sincere national initiatives led by loyal sons of the nation are capable of making a difference, turning ideas into solid achievements that contribute to serving society and promoting tourism and cultural development, in line with the Kingdom’s aspirations for a more prosperous and brighter future.
May God protect our dear homeland, and perpetuate upon it the blessings of security, stability and prosperity, and guide its wise leadership to all that is good for the homeland and the citizen.
